Worldwide Denim Guide

It was one of those mornings where I attempted to fit into a pair of jeans. Then I realized that the struggle was so not worth it and ended up in black harem pants. It’s not that they didn’t fit; they just weren’t comfortable for a Sunday morning coffee/study session at Joe coffee shop.

Finding denim that works just right for your body is always easier said than done. Until you’ve had enough shopping experience, and have found the brand that hugs your shape, reading up on denim and which types of jeans work better for certain body shapes never hurts!

Below I have attached some “guides to denim” for both men and women, but before we get there, hear me out. There are a few things to keep in mind when shopping for jeans. First, and this goes is for both sexes, be conscious of your body shape! I am aware that super tight skinny jeans are on trend, but if you don’t have the body shape to wear them, don’t! Jeans will always be in style, and based upon the shear quantity of denim cuts, you are bound to find a style that suits your shape.

Men, when buying denim, look for jeans that are proportioned correctly! If you’re out shopping for jeans, take your height into consideration. If you are shorter, look for denim with a tapered leg; if you’re taller, trying finding jeans that cuff well or go for an ankle cut!

Women, honestly finding the perfect pair of jeans depends solely upon your proportions. Don’t be afraid to go up a size if it means your butt will fit perfectly and no struggles will be required to get into them! Sometimes you need to wear them in, do some squats, or shrink them to make them fit perfectly. However, if I can give you one basic tip, it is this: darker washes will always make you look slimmer, lighter washes tend to have an enlarging effect. Do with that as you please.
